Schedule E (Form 1040) is the IRS form where US taxpayers report income and expenses from rental real estate. Part I has one column per property and a line for each kind of expense: rents received, insurance, mortgage interest, repairs, taxes, utilities, depreciation, and so on.

Any bank or card issuer that lets you download transactions as CSV, OFX, or QFX, which is nearly all of them. Roof Yield guesses the columns of a CSV and remembers the layout for the next import.

From your own data. You can teach a property words your bank prints, like a tenant’s surname, a unit number, or a street number, and Roof Yield also remembers how you filed the same payee before. Suggestions are only suggestions: every imported row waits for you to accept it.

It shows a straight-line, mid-month working from the basis, land value, and in-service date you enter (27.5 years for residential, 39 for commercial), next to the amount you record as claimed. The Schedule E summary reports what you record, so your preparer’s figure stays the one on the return.

No. Roof Yield organizes your records and adds them up by Schedule E line. It doesn’t file returns or give tax advice; check your return with a tax professional.

Yes. Settings has an export that downloads a zip with a spreadsheet for each kind of record (properties, accounts, entries, splits, rules, and more) and every file you uploaded.
