Who we are

Roof Yield is a service of The Solution Desk LLC ("we", "us"). This policy covers the website at roofyield.com and the Roof Yield app at app.roofyield.com (together, the "Service").

Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash), and optionally your name, profile picture, and country.
• Sign-in security: if you turn on two-factor authentication or add a passkey, the data needed to check them. Two-factor secrets are stored encrypted.
• Your records: the properties, addresses, accounts, transactions, categories, rules, schedules, and depreciation figures you enter or import. For bank and card accounts we store the last four digits you give us, never full account numbers or bank passwords.
• Files: receipts, photos, and documents you upload. Photos are stripped of embedded metadata, such as location, when uploaded.
• Messages: what you send us when you contact support.

Information collected automatically

• Technical data: your IP address and browser details when you use the Service, used to keep it secure, limit abuse such as repeated sign-in attempts, and fix problems.
• Approximate location: when you type an address, an estimate of your general area is used to rank nearby address suggestions first. It is not stored.
• Records of activity: a log of emails we send you, and of security events such as administrator actions on accounts.

How we use information

• To provide the Service: store your records, produce your reports, and keep you signed in.
• To secure the Service: verify sign-ins, check that sign-ups are made by people, prevent abuse, and investigate problems.
• To communicate with you: send account emails such as sign-up confirmation and password reset, and answer your questions.
• To comply with the law and enforce our terms of service.

We do not sell or rent your information, use it for advertising, share it with advertisers, or use your financial records to train artificial intelligence models.

Service providers

We use a small number of carefully chosen companies to help run the Service. They process information only on our instructions and only to provide their service to us, and they are required to protect it. They fall into these categories:

• Hosting and network providers, which run our servers, deliver the website and app, protect them from attacks, store encrypted backups, and check that sign-ups and repeated sign-in attempts come from people rather than automated software.
• An email delivery provider, which sends account emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets. It receives your email address and the message.
• A mapping provider, Google Maps Platform, which suggests addresses as you type and shows the street view of a property. It receives the address text you type and your approximate area.
• A font provider, which serves the typefaces on roofyield.com and receives basic technical details from your browser.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

Cookies

The Roof Yield app uses one essential cookie to keep you signed in. It can't be read by page scripts and is used for nothing else. Our security provider may set cookies needed for its checks that visitors are people. The roofyield.com website sets no cookies of its own, and neither the website nor the app uses analytics or advertising trackers.

Where information is stored and how it is protected

Your information is stored in the United States. We protect it with:

• encrypted connections (HTTPS) for everything you send and receive;
• passwords stored only as one-way hashes, and two-factor secrets stored encrypted;
• strict separation between accounts, so no account can see another's records;
• regular encrypted backups, so your records survive a hardware failure.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your information from our live systems within 30 days. Copies in our backups are removed as those backups expire, within 12 months. We may keep limited information longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes.

Your choices and rights

• See and take your data: Settings in the app downloads a zip of all your records and files.
• Correct it: edit your records and profile in the app at any time.
• Delete your account: email support@roofyield.com from the address on the account.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to know what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, contact us using the details below; we will verify your identity before acting on it.

Children

The Service is for adults managing rental property and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you've already given us, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
